Grid Scale

Albatern’s roadmap follows a similar model to on-shore wind where turbines were developed and proven at smaller scale first, and then scaled up to a capacity suitable for grid scale supply.

We believe that this will be a more capital-efficient and lower risk strategy, and gives the benefits of learning from the smaller lower cost units.

The roadmap sets a target of a 100 MW WaveNET by 2024 with a projected levelised cost of energy (LCOE)  in the region of £100-150 per MWh.

This would make it competitive with offshore wind in terms of cost although with advantages in terms of available resource, visual intrusion and seaspace required.
